Their range is usually farther than other classes' range and they have the ability to feign death which causes monsters to lose aggro on them (meaning the monsters will no longer try to focus their damage on them). This means Hunters often get assigned the role of pulling or getting the attention of monsters so that they run to the raid group rather than us having to run to them. The strategy is to ping a monster with a ranged weapon, wait until the monsters get close, then feign death so the monsters don't kill the Hunter. Meanwhile, for this particular fight, when the monster gets close enough, a mage will sheep it to temporarily take the monster out of the fight.
